W H Y | H E L P?

Please consider....

Almost every WASP is over 85
There are less than 400 surviving WASP, many who have never told their stories
That number grows smaller every year
We are in a hurry to do more.
Here is one reason why:

VERDA-MAE JENNINGS, WASP,  44-W-2: sent back the original Wings Across America Questionnaire...writing that she wanted to tell more about the WASP and why she had learned to eat and sleep flying!

Here is an excerpt  from an email written by her son, Charles A. Jennings, MC.  He has graciously given his permission for us to share this with you.

"Today, January 8, 2000, my mother, Verda-Mae Jennings (aka Verda-Mae Lowe) died of cancer at 12:30 pm. at the age of 84...

I am sorry to bring you this message, however, you might be interested to know that my mother's experience with the WASP and her subsequent involvement with her group was the highlight of her life..."

Charles A Jennings, MC

VERDA-MAE never told her story...not the whole story...

She wanted to.

Lack of funds kept us from visiting her in Arizona. She began to record the story of her life on the back of an old envelope.

Her son found this after she died:

Verda-Mae's history--
on the back of an envelope:
